Train/ferry from Glasgow to Arran, and then our Attempt (at a moderate, but not superfast, speed) to circumnavigate Arran (or half-way round and over the top, otherwise) in one day. Due to the distances involved, this ride is unfortunately not suitable for more novice cyclists. From: Stirling to: Balloch (90 miles round trip) Start: 19:00, Stirling Station Callander Loch Katrine weekend - Cycle Stirling-Callander 15 miles on Friday evening Round trip on the Saturday, via Aberfoyle, Loch Ard forest tracks, Stronachlachar, around Loch Katrine and back to Callander by Loch Venachar. Sunday - return to Balloch station via Aberfoyle and Drymen. See GoBike website for train times and hostel booking details nearer the time. From: Gorebridge to: Peebles/ Gorebridge (27 miles/ 50 miles) Start: 10:30, Greenhall Centre, Gorebridge, Midlothian Cycle to raise funds for Testicular Cancer Awareness. Support vehicles, first aid and marshals will be along the route. The cycle is for all grades of riders. Choice of 2 routes, 27 mile cycle or circular 50 mile cycle. From: Edinburgh - Holyrood Park to: Dunbar - Hallhill Centre (35 Miles) Start: 08:30 - 10:00, Holyrood Park - The car park near the palace on Queen's Drive. Sponsored bike ride to raise money for over 30 charities, schools and hospitals. Starts along the innocent Cycle Path and then follows the coastal road route through many small coastal towns to Dunbar. A Pasta Snack is served at North Berwick. From: Glasgow to: Edinburgh (35 miles) Start: 10:00, Bell's Bridge. Exhibition Centre, Finnieston, Glasgow; or Partick Station, Glasgow Train to Drumgelloch, then cycle to Bathgate and Edinburgh - return by train - use this run to help you get fit for Pedal for Scotland - but by a different shorter and less hilly route to Edinburgh via the West Lothian cycle paths through Livingston.

Follows peaceful canal path route, ideal for all levels and ages, well stewarded with repair support. Refreshment break at Bowling with views across the Clyde estuary. Hope to attract over 300 riders, free t-shirt for all who raise over £30, prize raffle. Good train links back to Glasgow from Balloch and other stations on route. Entry fee: £5 (£3 under 16)
